OUTPLACEMENT

During this unprecedented time of Coronavirus COVID-19, it is heart-wrenching for employers to lay-off so many employees into the abyss of a shocking job market. Outplacement services are needed more than ever, not just for practical career coaching, but for emotional support.

Benefits of Outplacement:

Providing career transition services has always had a two-fold purpose. One perspective is to enhance or safeguard your reputation, maintain morale and productivity of remaining employees, and avoid possible lawsuits. The other reason is a moral choice to support a fellow human being during a difficult transition. That is more important than ever during this pandemic.

Unique Background:

Litzinger Career Consulting is distinctly positioned to help during this turbulent time, since owner Karen Litzinger is a License Professional Counselor with specialized training in grief and loss as well as a Certified Career Counselor and Global Career Development Facilitator. Most clients work directly with Karen, although we have the capacity to tap career coach affiliates through the Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association and beyond. Karen has been exclusively doing career coaching for decades, so no risks of someone new to the field because of the crisis.

Personalized Approach:

There are no cookie-cutter services here. If you are laying off hundreds of employees, then you may need that scale and approach for cost-effectiveness. If you value more individualized services still at a reasonable fee, read on. Perhaps you may want to offer some employees more personalized services while offering other employees on-line platforms; this might be based on level in the organization, complicated termination or employee background, or need for career change counseling as much as job search advising. Even remote workshops for larger groups are personalized and interactive since limited to 15 attendees.

How Delivered:

With in-person meetings temporarily eliminated, coaching meetings are by phone or video enhanced with interactive screen sharing of materials. Small group engagements may begin with an interactive webinar, followed by individual career coaching sessions. Evening and weekend appointments are available, and Karen is available between appointments 24/7 by cell phone, email, and text.

Timeframe and Fees:

Outplacement packages are available in varying month time frames with the reasonable fees, lowered for longer packages. In 2019 the Department of Labor reported average unemployment periods as just under five months. With expecting record-high unemployment, you may want to consider a longer program to realistically support an employee until the turnaround begins or in some cases a short program simply to provide employees with the skills to negotiate on their own.
