Netiquette: Email Tips (Winter/Spring 2009)

Whether you are job searching or happily employed, good email etiquette is an important sign of professionalism. Litzinger Career Consulting offers a variety of Business Etiquette training programs and shares these tips for advancing your job search or career:

• Focus on information exchange, not decisions or brainstorming
• Keep emails brief, yet not curt
• Use complete words and sentences, not instant messaging language
• Write a detailed subject line
• Change subject line as subsequent email topics change for ease in filing
• Include complete contact information in your automatic signature line
• Don't use email to avoid talking
